Happy Valley Racetrack (yes, that's really the name) is actually a
contributor to the
cemetery. It was formerly a low-lying, mosquito-infested swamp that was drained after many died of Malaria. The horse race track around the perimeter is
immensely popular (especially for betting) and inside the track are many soccer and rugby fields. Its bowl shape is enhanced by the high rise residences that surround it. Hong Kong - the Sha Tin Track - is the site for the equestrian events for the 2008 Olympics. (Check out the 2 extra-skinny high rises in the picture below.)
